Volunteer
Women’s Clinic and Family Counseling Center welcomes community interest through volunteering. Needs and projects may vary and can be matched to particular skill levels. The one quality we need of all volunteers is: dependability.
Professional Volunteers
Licensed volunteers are required to have the appropriate licenses and accreditations in their respective fields. Physicians, nurse practitioners, midwives and other professionals are required to have valid California licenses in good standing. Medical volunteers may contact Kassie Carney, Clinic Manager at (310) 203-8899 ext. 113.
Volunteer therapists must be Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) interns or trainees who are fulfilling the requirements to become licensed therapists. For more information about a possible MFT internship, please contact Carla Becker, Development Director at (310) 203-8899 ext. 102.
General Office Volunteers
General office volunteers are needed to assist with answering phones, filing and other clerical duties. It is helpful if these volunteers have a general knowledge of women's health and can firmly commit to specific days and times. If you are interested in volunteering please call 310-203-8899, ext. 113.
NOTE: Due to the sensitive nature of our work, all volunteers here on the premises are required to sign confidentiality agreements and pass a basic health exam.
Special Event Volunteers
Our annual special event, Shoe Frenzy, usually takes place in Culver City in May.
Volunteers are needed for the event and for event preparation. All volunteers need to fill out an application that can be downloaded from www.shoefrenzy.net. Before committing to volunteer for the event, or for event preparation, please keep in mind that you will need to be able to lift heavy boxes, stand for long periods of time, and maintain a pleasant demeanor even during a shoe stampede. Help is also needed in preparing for the event, such as soliciting shoes and raffle items. We ask that you first volunteer for the event, and then if you would like to become more involved, the next year you may choose to join the Shoe Frenzy steering committee. There is a much greater time commitment to be a part of the steering committee since members meet regularly in the evenings starting several months prior to the event.
NOTE: All Shoe Frenzy volunteers are only permitted to purchase one pair of shoes prior to the doors opening at the event. There are no exceptions. Additionally Women's Clinic & Family Counseling Center and Shoe Frenzy reserves the right to restrict certain designer shoes from the volunteer one pair pre-sale.
